Continued support for writing workshops

Grant writing workshops is one of the supporting activities that SFSG partners fund in order to increase the number of researchers in Sweden who apply for – and are awarded – ERC grants. Kempestiftelserna and Ragnar Söderbergs stiftelse have funded workshops at the universities in Umeå, Stockholm and Lund in 2024 and 2025.

 

The workshops are co-funded by the hosting university and they select approximately 20 competitive participants. The workshop program runs from lunch to lunch and includes seminars with experts on ERC grant writing and budgeting, previous reviewers and successful applicants. Applicants also bring a synopsis for their application that is discussed in groups where they receive constructive feed back.

 

We funded the first writing workshops in 2023 as a pilot. It is still too early to evaluate if they have had a substantial impact on the number of researcher who receive ERC grants but we know that they are much appreciated by the participants.
